Dear Person Who Posted This On Facebook,
I’d just like to say: no. I understand that you may feel attacked for your beliefs, and I’m sorry you feel that way. But the way to respond is not by posting immature memes on Facebook implying that those who have different political views than you have been brainwashed and are not as worthy of life as you.
By posting this picture, you are openly spreading the ideas you claim to hate—extremism and stereotyping. As someone who holds some of these beliefs, I am hurt and offended by your assumptions and implications that I have not clearly thought through my political stance.
Lastly, you promote yourself on Facebook as a Christian. As a Christian, love should be your concern. Christians can—and should—have different backgrounds and different beliefs, and you are not exactly helping the “Christians are not” ‘stereotype’ you claim to hate through your posts.
There are so many things that hurt me about this picture that I did not get a chance to address, but you should know: I am offended. I am Christian and left-leaning, but even if I were neither, I hope I would be offended anyway. Because this post was blatantly untrue and is widening the gap between us.
I really wish I could post this response on Facebook, but I know that this will not help the situation.
Now you know how I feel.
Love,
The Random Facebook Friend Rapidly Losing Respect For you.
Also, there should be a comma after the “Yes” in all those speech bubbles.
